DJXII MIDI Capabilities
The DJXII DOES NOT transmit MIDI Performance data, Program Change messages, Note data, or Controller data.
The DJXII receives Program Change messages, Note data, and Controller data.
The DJXII transmits and receives MIDI Clock, and MIDI Start/Stop. This allows it to control Start, Stop, and Tempo of other MIDI devices (and vice versa).
The DJXII transmits and receives Bulk Data for storing User Data (Performance Recorder and Sampling Data) to a computer sequencer application or a hardware sequencer.
The DJXII transmits and receives Pattern Data with the help of a special application called ‘Pattern Launcher’ (for PC or MAC). Pattern Launcher can be used to load new patterns into the DJXII and to save Custom Pattern data to a computer.
The DJXII only receives MIDI data on certain receive channels, and each channel has a specific purpose:
– MIDI Receive Ch. 1 – Controls any of the 203 DJXII Voices. Responds to Program Change messages, Note data and Controller data.
– MIDI Receive Ch. 2 – Controls the Sampler Pad.
– MIDI Receive Ch. 3 – Controls the ‘Scratch’ feature.
– MIDI Receive Ch. 4 – Controls the keyboard sections. Note data received by this Channel via MIDI is treated as if it were played directly on the DJXII keyboard.
– MIDI Receive Ch. 5 to 8 – Not used.
– MIDI Receive Ch. 9 to 16 – These Channels control the Pattern Voices. The user can turn OFF one of the Pattern Parts, and play it from an external MIDI controller (while the Pattern is playing).
